Seasonal seasoning: Tilly Ramsay joins ‘Masterchef’ dad to judge junior holiday competition
You have to whisk it to risk it — and maybe add a little nutmeg for a taste of holiday cheer. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay welcomes both his family and yours to spend some time in the kitchen this holiday season, as the all-new “Masterchef Junior: Home for the Holidays” airs a two-part special, taking place Sunday and Monday, Dec. 10 and 11, on Fox.
“Gordon Ramsay welcomes nine young culinary contestants to cook up seasonal delights themed to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Lunar New Year and more,” a recent news release from the network shared, continuing: “Judges Gordon Ramsay, his daughter Tilly Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Daphne Oz will crown a winner, who takes home the ultimate holiday gift: a $25,000 grand prize, a Viking Kitchen package and a one-of-a-kind ‘Masterchef’ snow globe trophy.” In fact, each junior chef who competes will leave with a kitchen-related prize, including a second Viking Kitchen package for the runner-up.
Like its predecessor, “Masterchef Junior,” this iteration will also feature young aspiring cooks — children aged eight to 13 — with each episode putting the heat on these talented junior chefs with a series of challenges. They’ll compete in skills-based tests, boxes of mystery ingredients, team challenges and elimination rounds, including the “Pressure Test,” in which losing team members must compete against each other to make an impressive dish within a limited time frame.
Once the competition is reduced to its strongest chefs, the remaining few must face off in a three-course cook-off, with all courses equally weighed by judges to determine an overall winner.
It’s a big feat to face one Ramsay for chefs of all ages — let alone two. A world-renowned chef himself, Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, Tilly, was previously a contestant on “Celebrity Masterchef Australia,” proving that talent in the kitchen might just be genetic. The second-generation Ramsay is also set to join the cast as a judge of “Masterchef Junior’s” upcoming ninth season, acting as a reminder of what young chefs can accomplish once they really get cooking.
Bubbling over with family fun and holiday cheer, this seasonal special is sure to give fans a taste of what’s to come in “Masterchef Junior” Season 9. “Masterchef Junior: Home for the Holidays” airs as a twonight event, Dec. 10 and 11, on Fox.
