Helen Earle Worthan, 97, of Big Spring, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:20 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at her home.

Helen was born February 12, 1927, in the Salem community near Coahoma, Texas, to Earl Samuel and Flora Lee (Collins) Hull. She married the love of her life, Dee Worthan, on November 6, 1944 in Big Spring; Dee preceded her in death on August 24,2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Ted Hull, Pete Hull, and Royce Hull.

Surviving, are her children, Shirley Fryar and Angel husband Travis of Midland, TX, and Jan (Terry) Hansen of Big Spring, TX; three grandchild­ren, Shelley Roten of Lubbock, TX, Michelle (Charles) of Houston, TX, and Eric (Kinsey) Hansen of San Angelo, TX, Debra (Bill) Calobreves of Springtown TX, Kathy (J) Epley of Big Spring, TX, and Terry Don (Karon) Fryar of Big Spring, TX, plus eighteen great-grandchild­ren. Also surviving Helen are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen grew up on a farm in the Salem community and always enjoyed telling stories of those days. She graduated from Coahoma High School in 1944. Helen worked at the Telephone Company in Beeville and Big Spring, TX as a telephone operator. Helen worked at First National Bank in Big Spring and retired after 23 years in 1978. She was a woman of faith, having a relationsh­ip with Jesus and leaving a Christian legacy instilled into her family. Helen was a lifelong Baptist and a member of College Baptist Church in Big Spring since 1965.

Helen was a lover of nature. She loved watching birds in her back yard. She loved to travel with husband Dee, having spent many happy days fishing on the Devils River and at Lake Limestone. After losing her husband in 2000, Helen traveled extensivel­y with her family every summer for 20 years seeing much of the US plus one trip to Norway.

Helen was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmothe­r (Grannie and Nana), great-grandmothe­r (Great Nana or Nana the Great), aunt, and friend. She loved her family dearly and was grateful for her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren who made her heart full of happiness and pride. Helen spent the last two years of her life dealing with various health issues. Daughters Shirley and Jan provided loving care and support during her later years enabling Helen to be at home until she passed.

Pallbearer­s will be Eric Hansen, Linkoln Hansen, Beck Hansen, Terry Hansen, Charles Olson, Bill Calobreves, and Scott Fryar. Honorary pallbearer­s are Terry Don Fryar, J Epley, Loyd Mashburn, Dwayne Fox, Mark Vassar, Jamie Scott, Danny Hull, Morgan Hull, Craig Caudill and Don Stabeno.

A visitation will be held from 9:00AM to 9:45AM at College Baptist Church on March 11, 2024. A celebratio­n of life will follow the visitation at 10:00AM. Interment will be held at Trinity Memorial Park after the service.
