Forsan Junior High crowned District Champions in UIL competition
Forsan Junior High students competed in the annual UIL (University Interscholastic League) competition in December, hosted by Water Valley. Forsan Junior High had the highest accumulation of points earning them the title of District Champions. Awards were presented to students during a special ceremony this past month.
“Overall, the teams combined earned 500 more points then the district runner up,” Erin Stone, Junior High UIL coordinator at Forsan, said.
In 6th Grade results are as follows:
Oral Reading Laila Petrowski earned First Place and Autumn Wash earned Fourth Place.
The Calculator App team composed of Arybell Lopez, Haylea Elliot, Tyler Frietag, and Ellianna Davis placed 2nd overall with Arybell Lopez claiming 3rd Place and Haylea Elliott placed 5th.
The Dictionary Skills team composed of Laila Petrowski, Haylea Elliott, Emma Columbus and Kinley Wyatt placed 1st overall. Individuals Laila Petrowski and Haylea Elliott claimed 1st and 2nd Place.
In the Impromptu Speaking competition, Hunter Allen placed 2nd and Maddie Gaston placed 3rd. The Maps/graphs/charts team placed 1st Place, with Kinley Wyatt claiming 3rd Place and Jackson Wyatt claiming 4th Place. The Music Memory team claimed 1st Place overall with team members Jaythen Martinez, Zadrian Perez-ginkinger, and Kyler Sharpe claiming 1st Place through 3rd Place in the competition.
The Social Studies team - August Calvio, Hunter Allen, Jack Wyatt, and Linken Lasater - placed 2nd overall with August Calvio placing 3rd, Hunter Allen in 4th Place, and Jack Wyatt in 5th Place.
The Spelling Team claimed 1st Place and team members capturing 1st through 4th Place; Farhlei Lang (1st), Elliana Davis (2nd), Laila Petrowski (3rd) and Haylea Elliott (4th). In Ready Writing, First Place went to Gracelynn Falcon, 4th Place to Kynzie Tilley and Maddie Gaston placed 5th. In the Editorial Writing competition, Gracelynn Falcon earned 3rd Place, Farhlei Iang earned 4th Place and Kynzie Tilley earned 5th Place. The Listening Skills team was made up of Hunter Allen (5th Place), Mackenzie Haechten (6th Place), Zadrian Perez-ginkinger and Amiaya Gardner. The team placed 2nd overall. In Modern Oratory Maddie Gaston claimed 1st Place with Hayle Elliott placing 2nd, and Emma Columbus placing 3rd Place. The Science team placed 2nd Overall; the team was made up of Zadrian Perez- Ginkinger (3rd Place), Gage Richardson (5th Place) and Hunter Allen. The four member Art Smart Team placed 1st - Laila Petrowski (1st), Farhlei Iang (2nd), Hayley Elliott (3rd) and Emma Columbus (4th). The Mathematics team comprised of Hayle Elliott, Jack Wyatt, Linken
Lasater, and Easton Magby, placed 3rd Place overall. Team member Haylea Elliott placed 3rd as an individual.
In 7th Grade results are as follows:
In Oral Reading Garrett Roach placed 1st, Brynlee Mims placed 2nd, and Allie Olson placed 5th. The Calculator App Team - Tahmid Rayid, Matthew Pickett, Feliz Flores and Gavin Phelps - claimed 1st Place overall with Tahmid Rayid in 1st Place, Matthew Pickett and Feliz Flores with a 2nd Place tie. The Dictionary Skills Team - Barrett Grigg, Finn Rigdon, Ryan Dunlap and Townsend Porras placed 3rd overall with Barrett Grigg in 3rd Place. The Number Sense Team - Tahmid Rayid, Allie Olsen, Feliz Flores, and Cody Vickers - placed 1st Overall with Tahmid Rayid earning 1st Place and Allie Olson in 5th Place. The Listening Skills Team placed 3rd Overall; team members included Bella Medrano, Janine Gato, and Dominick Bustamante. The Forsan Mathematics Team - Tahmid Rayid, Allie Olson, Feliz Flores and Koby Cates - claimed 1st Place with Tahmid Rayid in First Place, Allie Olson in 2nd Place and Feliz Flores in 5th Place individually. The Science Team - Tahmid Rayid, Camden Hefner, Aralius Diaz, and Bella Medrano placed 1st overall with Tahmid Rayid in 1st Place, Camden Hefner in 5th and Aralius Diaz in 6th. The Social Studies Team also claimed 1st Place. Team members included Ryan Dunlap, earning 2nd Place individual, Camden Hefner in 3rd Place individual, Matthew Pickett in 4th Place individual and Finn Rigdon. Ready Writing Team Member Brynlee Mims placed 4th and P'jae Yabes placed 5th. In Editorial Writing, Isabella Medrano placed 1st and Townsend Porras placed 5th. The Spelling Team was 1st with Tahmid Rayid also claiming 1st Place as an individual; Feliz Flores in 2nd Place, Barrett Grigg in 3rd Place, Bella Medrano in 5th and Finn
Rigdon. The Chess Team placed 1st with Tahmid Rayid placing 1st as an individual and Camden Hefner placing 3rd; Feliz Flores was also part of the Chess Team.
In 8th Grade the results are as follows:
In Oral Reading Paislee Jackson placed 3rd Place and Kyndall Pritchard took 4th Place; The Calculator App Team made up of Ozzy Mcwilliams, Luciana Saenz, Madi Reaves, and Ian Paredez placed 2nd overall; Ozzy Mcwilliams Placed 5th and Luciana Saenz placed 6th; In Dictionary Skills the team - made up of Khynlyn Leonard, Kaelyn Foust, Sofia Gardea, and Madi Reaves placed 1st overall, with Khynlyn Leonard placing 2nd and Kaelyn Foust placing 3rd; In the Maps/ Graphs/charts competition, the team made up of Taylor Rose, Kade Tucker, Braydon Washington, and Khynlyn Leonard, came in 1st Place. Team members Taylor Rose placed 2nd, Kade Tucker placed 5th and Braydon Washington placed 6th; The Number Sense Team - Robert Marrufo, Taylor Rose, Ozzy Mcwilliams, and Degin Durbin - placed 3rd Overall, with team member Robert Marrufo placing 6th; in Listening Skills Khynlyn Leonard placed 1st, Ian Paredez placed 3rd and Paxton Skaggs placed 5th. The team, which also included Emily Hallford, placed 1st; The Mathematics team claimed 1st Place. In individual competition Cooper Sedberry placed 4th and Jayden O'neal placed 5th. In the Ready Writing competition Khynlyn Leonard claimed 1st Place, Kaelyn Foust placed 2nd and Madi Reaves placed 4th. In Editorial Writing Braydon Washington placed 3rd and Kaelyn Foust placed 6th. The Spelling Team placed 1st overall. Team members included Madi Reaves, Kaelyn Foust, Taylor Rose and Kanyon Mers. Madi Reaves placed 1st and Kaelyn Foust placed 2nd. The Chess Team placed 1st overall, with team members Jayden O'neal, Cooper Sedberry, Kanyon Myers, and Kade Tucker. Team members Jayden O'neal and Kade Tucker tied for 2nd Place.
