Mary Dudley, 84, of Big Spring, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. No services are planned at this time.

Mary was born August 4, 1939, in Heath, Texas to parents Ruth (Lee) Hanby and Clinard Hanby and was the youngest of eight children. She grew up and attended schools in Rockwall and graduated in 1957. She met her husband (Jerry Dudley) in high school and they were married on August 23, 1958. She attended Texas A&M Commerce, where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Mary received her Doctorate in higher Education from Texas Tech University. She was a professor at Howard College from 1969 until her retirement in 2001. She taught 3rd grade at Kentwood Elementary for a few years after moving to Big Spring.

Mary loved travelling with her sisters throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. She and Jerry also enjoyed traveling to casinos in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Nevada.

Mary is survived by her husband Jerry Dudley of Big Spring; two sisters: Alma Ruth Beene of Dallas and Mary Sue Smith of Rockwall; sister’s in-laws: Patty Dudley and Judy Dunn, both of Garland; two daughters: Julie Chandler of Grandbury and Leeann Napper (Nicky) of Lamesa; and two grandsons: Gage Chandler of Weatherfor­d and Coddy Chandler of Broomfield, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lamesa Adoptable Pet Program, 502 S Houston Ave, Lamesa, TX 79331.
