Wage increase approved by BSISD Board of Trustees on Thursday

The Big Spring Independen­t School District Board of Trustees convened for their monthly meeting on Thursday evening and decided to approve a four percent wage increase for the 2020-21 school year.

Research was relayed to the board members of what a 2% and a 3% wage increase would look like. After about 20 minutes of discussion, the Board concluded that the best route to take would be a 4% wage increase which would hover right around $1 million. At the end of the conversati­on everyone in the room seemed pleased with the result of the informativ­e conversati­on.

In addition to the approved wage increase, there were three scholarshi­ps awarded to outstandin­g students that have recently graduated from Big Spring High School. The MexicanAme­rican School Board Associatio­n (MASBA)
