National Honor Society Induction Ceremony at Big Spring High
Big Spring ISD held their National Honor Society Induction Ceremony Monday, Oct. 5. A group of 16 Big Spring seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society alongside a group of 13 Big Spring juniors during the event.
The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students and bases their selection through four pillars of criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The organization was established in 1921 and encompasses an estimated one million students participation across the nation.
The National Honor Society is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School of Principals. Locally, the NHS is sponsored by District Librarian Irene Richardson and Cheryl Tannehill, according to Big Spring ISD’s website.
In order to be eligible for membership in the National Honor Society, seniors must have a ranking GPA of 4.5 and juniors must have a ranking GPA of 4.75. Candidates must also hold unique qualities such as scholarship, leadership, character, and service in order to receive membership into the National Honor Society.
Senior inductees included: Daniel Blount, Jorden Cervantez, Gage Davidson, Anna Erwin, Mia Gomez, Jocelyn Gonzales, Belicia Hernandez, Brianna Lopez, Joshua Lopez, Makynsa Norman, Taralynn Perkins, Marc Prieto, Reagan Thomas, Jayden Tubb, Shawntreonia Washington, and Bryan Wilkins.
Junior inductees included: Savannah Cantrell, Libby Everett, Alisa Gonzales, Emily Kocak, Kylee Lynch, Isabella Marquez, Chloe Paredes, Kenny Richardson, Ashely Sarmiento, Jennifer Smith, Thalia Solis, Soo-Ern Tan, and Peyton Woellert.
