Lady Steers fall to Snyder in three sets

- By SHAWN MORAN Herald Sports Writer The Lady Steers celebrate after scoring a point.

The Big Spring Lady Steers (12-12, 4-4) dropped their district matchup to the Snyder Lady Tigers over the weekend in three straight sets.

“We played hard but this game was humbling,” Braswell said. “Now we know that we still have to work and just because we’ve been doing great and playing hard doesn’t mean we can begin to take any days off. This loss showed us that we’re still working toward something.”

The Lady Steers are currently sitting in third place in District 3-4A and have two remaining matches at home against Levelland and Sweetwater. Big Spring lost their first meetings against both of those teams in four sets but will be looking to redeem themselves the second time around.

In fact, if Sweetwater were to lose their final two games and Big Spring wins theirs, the Lady Steers would have the inside track at finishing in second place behind the strong Snyder Lady Tigers squad.

“We still have a chance and I believe in this group of girls. We’ve had some adversity thrown our way but they always seem to bounce back and we’ll just need to do that next week,” Braswell said following Saturday’s game.

Big Spring now has just two regular season games left and their squad will be looking to finish strong and move into the postseason with a ton of momentum.

UP NEXT: The Levelland Lady Lobos will come to town on Tuesday evening to challenge the Big Spring Lady Steers for a second time. The Lady Lobos won the first meeting in four sets.
