Losing loved ones

-

Losing friends and close loved ones in this present day world is devastating to say the least. Their passing leaves a hole in our lives that can’t be filled with anything or anyone else. Especially around the holidays or their birthday or any other special day they had shared with us, we miss them. Friends left behind try to bring comfort, but even that is hard because they miss them as well. But we have to move on and live our lives as best we know how until God is through with us.

Several ways we can find help is to keep living our lives to the fullest. Let the Lord show us where we can fill in the gap they left behind. We can never take their place, but we can be filled with joy that theirs is not to suffer any more, nor have to face any more hardship, nor cry anymore over the pain or loss of others in their own lives.

God is the only One who can fill the gap. If He isn’t there in the first place, then He needs to be the first consideration of asking Him for help. His compassion fails not. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is Saviour and Lord and will help in time of need.

Whether we like it or not, we need Jesus. That’s God’s only begotten Son, in case you forgot or didn’t know to begin with. He is the only one who can help in time of desolation, devastation or disease ridden lives.

He is the One we need to be thankful to. In I Thessalonians 5:18 He tells us “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

That means when you get a new job or get fire, or find a new friend, or lose a loved one, or buy a new house, or your house burns down, or you get a new car, or have a car wreck, or you have great health, or get a devastating disease or you get a raise, or the banks fail, or you found all the groceries you need or can’t find what you think are essentials for daily living, like, well, you know.

What God expects His children to is give thanks! It’s called an attitude of gratitude.

Then when we get to heaven we can thank Him in person, bowing at His feet and casting any rewards we got down here at His feet.

I can’t wait.
