Forsan Buffalo Band brings home 2nd Place from State Competition
The Alamodome was rocking Monday for the UIL State Marching Band Competition. Two local bands – Forsan Buffalo Band and Big Spring Pride Drive – competed in the State Competition held in San Antonio on Monday. The Buffalo Band earned a Silver Medal and brought home a 2nd Place award.
“What an incredible accomplishment during unprecedented times,” Forsan ISD Superintendent Randy Johnson said.
The Forsan Band has traveled to the State Marching Competition for the past 12 years and each time is a unique experience. As the band traveled once again to the Alamodome, the experience was a unique one in that the competition was one of the few that has been able to take place since the pandemic started.
“We have been State Champions. We have been Silver Medalists, but we have also been outside the medals looking in many times,” Johnson said. “To break into the top three is huge and then when you consider the many interruptions that came due to COVID, it makes the accomplishment even more outstanding.”
