First United Methodist Church

First United Methodist Church is located just off Gregg Street at the corner of Fourth and Scurry in downtown Big Spring. Our Sunday morning schedule includes the 9 a.m. Traditions service featuring the pipe organ, choir, trumpet and hymns. At 11 a.m., The Bridge service featuring contempora­ry music led by a wonderful praise team.

Worship services are broadcast live each Sunday at 11 a.m. on radio station KBYG-105.5 FM. You can also find the services live streamed on our Facebook page at First United Methodist Church Big Spring.

On Sunday, Dec. 20, Pastor Ricky shared about “An Everlastin­g Father”. This coming Sunday the 27, our Music Minister, Dan Kiley will be sharing his heart. Naz Family Church

This Sunday - Now What? Have you ever come to the end of a great book or t.v. series and thought, “Now what? Where do I go from here? What will be the next great experience in life?” Christmas can feel a little bit like that. With all the build up and excitement, once the presents are opened and the decoration­s put away, we’re sometimes left with wondering where we go from here. We can sometimes find ourselves standing in that same space in our spiritual journey as well. Join us this Sunday as we discover our Now What as followers of Jesus.

The Bridge - The New Year will usher in a new time and location for the NazFamily Bridge Campus. On Sunday, Jan. 3, the Bridge will begin a 5 p.m. worship service at our 1400 S. Lancaster location. All are welcome!

Men’s Breakfast - Start off 2021 headed in the right direction. Join us for our Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 2nd @ 8:00am. It is a great time of food, fellowship, and faith building together.

Food Boxes - Every Tuesday & Thursday we make food boxes available in our church office from 10am - 12pm for anyone in need (excluding days the office is closed for a holiday). If you know someone who needs an extra blessing they can come by the office at that time or contact us at (432) 267-7015.

Spring

Mia Burch and Doug Mays lit the Advent Candle on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, and Kay Kennemur was the Psalm reader for last Sunday.

The Christmas Eve Service, a service of scriptures and carols, will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24.

First Presbyteri­an Church now has a Sermon Podcast on ITunes. The sermon from last week may be found at www.fpcbigspri­ng.com/Sermons.

For anyone wishing to join in a daily prayer, one may go to www.fpcbigspri­ng.com and select Daily Prayers. Rev. Allen Cross also posts a Weekly Devotional at that website, which may provide food for thought or help during time of stress or feelings of isolation. The devotional is posted on Wednesdays.

Wednesday Lectionary Bible Study meets at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.. Anyone wishing to join in the study by Zoom can find the link to the meeting in Faith Notes or online at the First Presbyteri­an Fellowship group on Facebook.

The Thursday Lunch Bunch meets in Fellowship Hall at 11:30. There will not be a Lunch Bunch on Dec. 24.

The Service Committee has food bags in the Narthex to be picked up by members to put in one’s car to give to someone in need.

The Discovery Class began a study by Adam Hamilton for the Advent season entitled Faithful Christmas through the Eyes of Joseph. This study follows Joseph from humble carpenter through the nativity and will conclude this Sunday..

The Youth Bible Study, led by Tom Koger, meets in the Youth Room.

The Children’s Class continues the Advent study with a lesson on “A Baby Is Born” for December 6. Nancy Koger is teaching this class.

The Sunday morning Take Ten fellowship in the parlor between Sunday School and worship has resumed. Kay Kennemur is host for this week.

Lectionary passages for the First Sunday of Christmas are: Psalm 148: 9-14; Isaiah 62:1-3; Luke 2: 27-38.: Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service. His sermon topic is “A New Era.”. Organist/music director Gabe Martinez leads the music on the organ and piano. The children will collect the Noisy Offering during the Children’s Moment.

Anyone who is not attending worship physically may hear the service on KBST 1490 AM at 11:00 a.m. as usual or online at www.fpcbigspri­ng.com by selecting the SERMONS tab and the correct date. Bible Study and Sunday School begin at 9:30 a.m. and we are having class each Sunday morning. Our Sunday Service begins at 10:30 a.m. You can catch us on Facebook Live on our Facebook page. Our Christmas Eve Service will begin at 7pm. The readings for this Sunday are Isaiah 61: 1062:3, Galatians 4:4-7, and Luke 2:22-40. The psalm is Psalm 111.

Our Wednesday Evening Bible Study will take a two week break. We will resume on Jan. 6, 2021. A meal is served at 5:30 and our bible study begins at 6:00. We are studying Lutheranis­m 101. Please come and join us.

College Baptist Church

College Baptist Church has set our Lottie Moon Christmas offering goal. This goal is a challengin­g one that will reach to the foreign mission field as we continue on mission for our Lord.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church welcomes all to participat­e in our services. We are located North of the High School on Goliad Street (1001 S. Goliad), and would love to have you visit.
