Betty Jean Cooper, 90 of Big Spring passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, in a local nursing home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2020 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born April 13, 1930 to Lillie Odessa Walker Lovvorn and Charles Lovvorn in Coahoma, Texas. Jean grew up and attended Coahoma schools. She married Cecil Cooper on Oct. 25, 1948, in San Angelo, Texas and they made their home in Big Spring. Jean waited tables at the Settles Hotel Coffee Shop and worked at the Big Spring State Hospital for many years as a secretary before retiring. Jean was a faithful member of Big Spring First Church of the Nazarene for fifty-four years. Jean loved cooking

outdoors, caring for her plants, working in her yard, making flower arrangemen­ts and decorating. Jean especially enjoyed cooking for her family and Sunday dinners. The light of her world was spending time with her family, grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children.

Jean is survived by four daughters, Cecilia Ward and husband, Jimmy of Big Spring, Teresa Welch and husband, Tommy of Big Spring, Melissa Decker and husband, Eddie of San Antonio and Vanessa Burchett and husband, Bill of Big Spring; ten grandchild­ren and thirteen great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil Cooper; twin infant sons, Kenneth and Keith Cooper. Five sisters, Katherine Lovvorn, Opal Box, Lazell Vaughn, Montez Owens and Lois Meek.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jean’s memory to Big Spring First Church of the Nazarene 1400 S. Lancaster Big Spring, Texas 79720.
