County Commissioners approve $16K grant to further library resources
County Commissioners met yesterday afternoon to discuss various routine matters. Meetings so far this year have taken place on the third floor of the County Courthouse in the Commissioner’s Court Room and online via Facebook Live. All commissioners were present at yesterday’s meeting.
County Judge Kathryn Wiseman called the meeting to order, and after taking a moment for citizen input, Road Engineer Bryan Klinsiek began discussing the low bidder for RFB 2021001 for a seal coat project. According to Klinsiek, the lowest bidder priced the project at $858,037.31. Commissioner John Cline mentioned some hesitation with the lowest bidder as they are a new business the county would be working with.
“I’m sure you’ll keep up our quality and standards,” Commissioner Cline said.
Commissioner Cline then made a motion to approve permission to move forward with the project and was seconded by Commissioner Eddilisa Ray. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval of Parks Ins. was also discussed where Judge Wiseman mentioned this item was simply to proceed in approval for County Attorney Joshua Hamby’s bond and State of Texas Oath of Office.
Commissioner Jimmie Long moved to approve the bond and was seconded by Commissioner Craig Bailey. The approval moved forward with a unanimous vote.
Afterward, Library Director Mayor Braswell brought forth a Texas State Library & Archives Commission CARES grant award and contract to commissioners. According to Braswell, the grant will be used to provide more technology services for the community including additional internet
