Big Spring Andrews Swim Meet results

The Big Spring swim teams recently competed in Andrews.

In the diving competitio­n, Cate Smith claimed 2nd, with Jaylon (Toby) Phillips placed 6th and Christian Pantoja-Strickland claimed 7th place. Ethan Coronado, from Stanton High School, claimed 1st place in the Boys diving event.

In the Girls Division, Malaki Vaughn placed 5th overall.

In the Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay the Big Spring team combined of Arely Cruz-Garcia, Naomi Reyes, Malaki Vaughn, and Katherine Greene place Third overall. In the Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay the Big Spring team combined of Smith Cate, Manuel Castillo, David Summers and toby Phillips placed Fourth.

In the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle, Jayda Overton came in 11th with Katherine Greene placing 14th.

For the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle, Christian Pantoja-Strickland claimed 8th place and Morgan Griffith placed 9th.

The Girls 200 Yard IM, Arely Cruz-Garcia placed Third. For the boys 200 Yard IM, David Summers placed 5th.

Big Spring had three rankings in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle: Naomi Reyes, 2nd; Malaki Vaughn, 4th; Steffany Pina Arment, 13th. In the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle, two boys placed: Manuel Castillo claimed 3rd and Toby Phillips claimed 7th Place.

In the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly, Katherine Greene placed 5th; Boys 100 Yard Butterfly brought a 3rd place finish by Manuel Castillo.

For the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle Malaki Vaughn brought home 3rd place; Jayda Overton placed 11th. The boys 100 Yard Freestyle had Smith Cate bring in 5th Place and 8th Place by toby Phillips, and 11th Place with Matthew Nieves.

The Girls 500 Yard Freestyle had Arely Cruz-Garcia in 2nd Place; Boys 500 Yard Freestyle resulted with Big Spring claiming 3rd Place – Christian Pantoja-Strickland and 4th Place – Morgan Griffith.

The Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay had the Big Spring team place 3rd overall, Naomi Reyes, Jayda Overton, Arely Cruz-Garcia and Malaki Vaughn.

The Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay had Big Spring place 5th overall, with the team of David Summers, Smith Cate, Christian Pantoja-Strickland and Manuel Castillo.

The Girls 100 Yard Backstroke had one Big Spring placement with Brooklynne Heffle placing 7th. The Boys 100 Yard Backstroke found Big Spring in 4th Place – David Summers and 5th Place – Smith Cate.

The Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team – Jayda Overton, Steffany Pina Arment, Katherine Greene, and Brooklynne Heffle – brought in 7th Place.

The Boys 400 Yard Freestyle Relay had Big Spring's team – Morgan Griffith, Christian PantojaStr­ickland, Toby Phillips and Matthew Nieves – place 5th.

The Overall combined scores – both Boys and Girls – had Big Spring in 3rd Place with 77 points. The Women's division had Big Spring in 3rd Place with 40 points and the Men's division had Big Spring placing 3rd with 37 points.
