First Baptist Church of Big Spring hosts D-Now

First Baptist Church of Big Spring will host their annual D-Now event from Feb. 5 through Feb. 7. Registrati­on will begin on the first night at 8:45 p.m. Participan­ts will be able to tour the gym and worship/teaching will begin at 10 p.m ending at midnight. The event will resume again on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with rec time and Paint Wars located in the east parking lot. Saturday's festivitie­s will end at 10 p.m. The last session of events will take place on Sunday from 9 - 10 a.m. at FBC.

D-Now is a multi-church event that has taken place since 2016 and challenges each Disciple Now student to extend their faith and relationsh­ip with Jesus. This year's D-Now theme is Pray.”

“We believe that this theme is so very important for our students, family and friends, our community and our nation,” Youth Pastor for FBC Big Spring Roger Stafford said. “This has been a very trying year for our students. We believe that learning to pray and seek the Face of God will be and is one of the most important factors to building a strong faith that relies on Jesus and strengthen­s our students to face what promises to be another challengin­g year.”

At D-Now, there will also be a worship band and a speaker in attendance for participan­ts to enjoy.

“One of the things that our students - and all of us - need is to be a part of something bigger than themselves,” Stafford said. “The emphasis is not on teaching about prayer as much as it is about praying and seeing God move in the lives of others and ourselves.”

Requiremen­ts for D-Now include being a student in the seventh to twelfth grade. There is also a cost to attend the event. If a student wishes to get involved, they will need to contact their church. The current churches participat­ing include Trinity Baptist, College Baptist, Hillcrest Baptist, Spring Creek Fellowship, and FBC. Students can also come as an individual. Sign-up forms are located on the FCB website or can be picked up at FBC.

“To our students, I would say that this will be an incredible event that will challenge them to go deeper in their faith and to find practical ways to engage in their faith,” he said.

According to Stafford, in February, FBC is looking to host an event called First Love where food trucks will be in attendance for the
