- By AMANDA DUFORAT Managing Editor

One person can make a difference, but a group of people can make an impact that will stretch even further. This Saturday in preparation for Valentine’s Day, the group will be meeting to make Valentine’s and deliver to those in town who have been shut in beginning at Noon.

“The event can be a win-win for all concerned,” Col. Allen Morris said. “Those who are involved will be enriched by the activity and any of our young people who are involved will have a good model to follow. Additionally, putting a smile on another person’s face and heart is always the right thing to do.”

The new group in town has taken it upon themselves to make sure outreach efforts are taking place, in addition to the work being done by civic organizations and non-profits. Taking Care of Business is a fairly new organization in town that focuses on efforts that draw in community participation and serve the community in more focused ways.

“The Masons have created an environment whereby anyone can get involved for as long as he/she would live,” he said. “If someone just wants to come, make a card for someone whom she knows and deliver it to him or herself, that’s okay too. As a matter of fact, we encourage it.”

The community is encouraged to take part in the Valentine’s making event, but should be aware that masks are required during the meeting. The event is a come and go and will continue until cards have been made and delivered.

“We have all of the supplies and tools needed for this event. We just need you to help put smiles on faces and hearts all over town,” Morris said.

Taking Care of Business meets in the Masonic Lodge at 219 South Main a few times each month. Meetings typically take place on Thursdays unless a special holiday or outreach effort arises.
