The Dance Lab competitio­n cheerleadi­ng teams competed at the West Texas Express Nationals in Lubbock

DLC Fury, ages 5-7, competed as an exhibition team. They put on a fun, energetic performanc­e and nailed all of their skills. DLC Fury will perform for the last time this season at the Lady Steer’s basketball game February 5th.

DLC Rage, ages 7-12, barely fell short of 1st place and ended as the runner up in Youth Level 1 division. The team upgraded their stunt section to include more difficulty and improved their over all score by a point from the last competitio­n.

DLC Swarm, ages 9-15, ended in 6th place in the Junior Level 2 division. The team suffered 2 points in deductions after a stunt fall, but still managed to improve their overall technique score by 2 points from the last competitio­n.

Dance Lab also had two athletes compete in individual skill events. Pailee Fontana, age 12, competed in the Youth Extreme

Tumbling division. This division consists of a 60 second high level tumbling routine. Pailee competed an impressive routine and ended 2nd in the division. Taya Gill, age 12, competed in the Youth Best Jumps division. She edged out 2nd place with her difficulty scores and took home the 1st place trophy. The coaches were proud of both girls for being confident enough to compete individual­ly.

Dance Lab hopes to improve their scores at their next competitio­n. DLC will compete February 20th at the United Spotlight Championsh­ips in Garland. All
