Labored And Heavy Laden

-

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Those of us who are labored and loaded down with burdens, it’s not that we never tried to keep the Law of Moses or live by the strictest religious regulations, because we did do this for a long time. We did it and we failed because we never managed to keep the Law of Moses to perfection. And for this reason, we are tired of the burdens of the works of the Law of Moses. Some may accuse us of laziness, of indifference, or of simply burying our heads in the sand like the ostrich. But this is not the case. We have not been lazy, because if we were, then, we would not be labored. If we had been lazy, or indifferent to the Law of Moses, Christ would never have invited us to find rest in His easy yoke, because His easy yoke is for everyone who has worked hard under the burden of the Law. Christ’s easy yoke is for everyone who has understood that all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.

Christ’s easy yoke and light burden are for all those who were not slack under the yoke of the Law.

Now, if you have never worked under the yoke of the Law of Moses, then most likely, you do not understand the great value of the easy yoke and the light burden that Christ offers us. But if you have worked and you have done your best to be true to all of Moses’ commandments, only to get to that place of failure, then the most beautiful, the sweetest, the most valuable and encouraging thing that we can find is rest in Christ’s easy yoke and light burden.

Lay your burdens at the feet of Jesus and you will find peace with God.
