Star Dodge sponsoring Spring Kickoff in support of Disabled American Veterans local chapter
Warmer temperatures are starting to sneak in, businesses are opening back up and the need to help support a worthy cause has not faded away. In an effort to show support for those who sacrificed and served their country, Star Dodge is teaming up with West Texas Baggers Cornhole Club to host Spring Kickoff Cornhole Tournament on March 27. Registration can be completed the day of the event and winners will receive a 60% payout. The monies raised from the event will benefit the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Big Spring Chapter #47.
“We (Star Dodge) is involved in a lot of outreach efforts in the community, but veterans are one of the main focuses for our people,” Tabitha Clark, PR/ Marketing Director for Star Dodge, said. “We want to do what we can to help ensure our veterans are taken care of.”
In addition to the tournament, food vendors will be set up for the event, along with other vendors. Local businesses who would like to set up a booth can do so for a donation made to the DAV. Several local businesses have already stepped up to partner with Star Dodge for the event including West Texas Farm Bureau, Interim, Back in Motion, Bulldog Steel, Crossroads Saloon. The West Texas VA and members from the DAV will be on hand providing information on veteran resources and offering an opportunity to register as a member with the DAV. Other fundraising opportunities will be on site for those attending to take part in. Area businesses wanting to display their banner at the event are also encouraged to reach out to Clark. Banners will be hung at the event for a small donation to the DAV. All funds raised go toward supporting and meeting the needs of veterans in the Howard County community.
“We want to salute our veterans and show them we stand behind them.
Their service and sacrifices are very much appreciated. This tournament is about not only bringing a community together for a common cause, but to show support as a unified group and letting our veterans know they are not forgotten. Their sacrifices are appreciated and won’t be forgotten,” Clark said.
Those wanting to donate to the DAV can contact any member of the local chapter or can make a donation at the event.
The tournament will be a double elimination competition and will include two persons teams facing off against each other. Registration takes place from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with bags flying at Noon.
