Robert (Keith) Toomire was loved by everyone lucky enough to have their lives touched by him. Even his ex-wives and girlfriend­s say (mostly) nice things about him. He loved hard and fought hard to the very end, leaving us far too soon on March 11, 2021, at the age of 76.

Keith was brought into this world by his beloved mother, Beulah Early, on June 26, 1945, in San Diego, California. Don’t tell him you read he was born there though, because Bea and his step-father, Herschel Moore, who raised him as his own, shortly moved with him to New Mexico for his childhood and adolescenc­e, and Keith spent most of his adult life in Texas. He was a New Mexi-Texan through and through.

He graduated with honors from Tatum High School, in Tatum, New Mexico, in 1963 where he was a lineman on the football team and was even voted Most Handsome (Runner-Up), and he’s probably still mad about that.

In 1966 he listened to his country’s calling and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served for six years, including a tour in Vietnam before retiring as a decorated Sergeant.

Keith graduated proudly from Texas Tech University with a degree in Accounting, which provided him the education he needed to rise in the ranks of property appraisal. He was known for his boisterous laugh and sense of humor, and if you ever had a need to visit him at the Howard County Appraisal District, where he worked as the Chief Tax Appraiser for decades, you can confirm that. After retiring, he began his own consulting firm, which
