Good Friday, Easter holiday business and school closures

All City of Big Spring and Howard County offices will be closed on Friday, April 2, 2021, for Good Friday.

Emergency services (Police, Fire, EMS and Sheriff) will continue normal operations. The Emergency Utilities Department will also be available and can be reached by calling 432-264-2392.

There will be no sanitation pickup on Friday, April 2. End of the week sanitation pickup will shift one day ahead. Thursday’s normal sanitation routes will be picked up on Wednesday, March 31. Friday’s normal sanitation routes will be picked up on Thursday, April 1.

The City Landfill will also be closed on Friday, April 2, in recognitio­n of Good Friday. The landfill will be open on Saturday, April 3, for normal business hours.

Local schools, including Big Spring, Coahoma and Forsan public schools and Howard College, will be closed Friday. Classes will resume as normal on Monday, April 5.

In addition, Coahoma ISD Elementary, Junior High and High School will release at noon today due to the Junior High School track meet. Buses will run immediatel­y following dismissal.

The U.S. Post Office will be open and will deliver mail as usual both Friday and Monday. All local banks will remain open during their usual business hours during the holiday. In addition area churches will be hosting Easter Church Services as well as a few community activities. The NazFamily Church will be hosting their Community Wide Egg Hunt on April 10, instead of during Easter weekend. Registrati­on will begin at 9 a.m. In addition to an egg hunt, the Lion’s Club will be offering support and conducting vision screenings. Fruitastic Sweets and More will be hosting an Easter Bash on Good Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
