Bulldogs fall to Crane in 7th inning walk-off

- Special to The Herald

The Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker to the Golden Cranes on Friday when Crane's Ty Sanchez hit a walk-off single to end the game 8-9 in the seventh inning.

The Bulldogs faced an uphill battle early in the game after Crane scored three runs in the first inning. Then, Billy Starr lit a fire to the Coahoma offense in the third inning by ripping a two-RBI home run on a line drive to left field. Ky Kemper, who went 3-for-3 for the day, tripled in the next at-bat, and the Bulldogs tied after a balk by the Crane pitcher sent Kemper home.

The Bulldogs rallied three times in the game to tie Crane before the walkoff ended with Coahoma's second loss in district.

Kemper was solid on the mound for the Bulldogs. He allowed two runs and three hits over two and two-thirds innings while striking out three. Kemper

was also a major asset for Coahoma at bat. He scored two runs and earned three RBI.

Bryan Martinez started the gafor Coahoma. He sacrificed six runs and five hits over four innings. Seth Brooks was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Next: The Bulldogs (1-2, 9-7) will be back in action on Tuesday, April 13, when they host Sonora for a district game. The JV boys team will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.
