If you like softball or baseball, you're set this weekend. Friday's filled with games for all local high school and college teams, while Saturday will feature Howard College Hawks baseball and softball games to choose from. If you're looking for a bit of family fun, look no further, come out, and support your favorite local program.

Let's start with the softball ladies. The Lady Steers will travel to Snyder this Friday to take on the Snyder Tigers. Big Spring is 8-11 with a 5-2 District record. They are coming off a dominating victory over San Angelo Lakeview 11 to 0. Meanwhile, Snyder has had a pretty good season and comes into the game 9-14 and 4-2 in District. Snyder beat Lubbock Estacado with an equally impressive win of 11-1. This game is shaping up to be a big battle for ranking in the District. If you are a fan of the Lady Steers, take the short trip to Snyder and cheer them on to victory. Varsity starts at 5 p.m., and JV plays at 7 p.m..

The Coahoma Bulldogettes will hit the road and play the Big Lake Owls in Reagan County this Friday. Coahoma has a solid team. The ladies have a 16-5 record and a perfect district record of 5-0. The Bulldogettes are coming off a massive victory over Sonora 15-0. Big Lake seems to be struggling this season with a record of 3-4-1 and 2-2-1 District record. They are coming off a high-scoring affair when they took on Stanton, losing 19-18. Coahoma has been pretty dominant most of this year, as they have a very skilled mature team. If you are looking for something to do, head down to Reagan County and catch this team in action. Varsity plays at 5 p.m., and JV at 6:30 p.m.

The Howard Lady Hawks look to continue their dominant season. They'll play two games Friday, followed up with two more Saturday at Snyder when they face off against Western Texas College. The Lady Hawks have had a fantastic season thus far, and they come into this matchup with a perfect 22-0 record and a 14-0 Conference play. They are coming off a four-game sweep of Midland College. Western Texas is 7-19 and 2-12 in Conference play. They just lost four in a row to Odessa College. This may seem like a game where two teams are heading in opposite directions. Still, the Lady Hawks never underestimate any opponent, and they will show up and play their very best ball. They open up the four-game series in Snyder on Friday, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. and the second game at 3 p.m. Saturday's game will also be in Snyder, but the game's times will be noon, followed by the series' final game at 2 p.m.

Moving on to the baseball scene, we have the Coahoma Bulldogs taking on the Reagan County Owls. The Bulldogs have a 10-7 record with a 2-2 District mark. They are riding high after a 10-4 win over Sonora in their last outing. Reagan County is also playing pretty good ball this season as they also have a 10-7 record, but they are 4-0 in District. Reagan is coming off an 18-6 decimation of

Stanton. This shapes up to be a pretty good District battle. The team that wins this game should have momentum moving forward. The game will be in Reagan County. You can catch the JV at 4:30 p.m., followed by the main event when the Varsity takes the field at 7 p.m. If you're a fan of the Bulldogs, this is a big game, so come out and show your support.

It will be Senior Night for the Forsan Bulldogs this Friday night as the Buffaloes take on the Colorado City Wolves. Forsan has played great ball as of late and carries a record of 9-10 and a 3-1 District record. The Buffs are coming off a one-sided victory over the Hamlin Pied Pipers 11-1. The Wolves lost their last game 10-4 when they took on Borden County. It will be a big night for the Buffaloes' Senior night happening in front of the always supportive home crowd, and the stage is set for these young Buffs to put on a show for the fans. Come out and show these Seniors some love, and stick around to watch some good baseball. This is a home game for Forsan. You can watch the JV play at 4:30 p.m., then Varsity plays at 7 p.m. The Seniors will be honored between games.

The Howard College baseball team will have another four-game set this weekend as they look to take on the Midland Chaparrals. Howard has an impressive 27-9 record and a conference record of 10-2. The Hawks had an easy four-game sweep of Western Texas last weekend and are 10-0 in their previous 10 games. Midland College is 25-8, and a 15-1 conference record is just as stout as the Hawks.

Midland is coming off a four-game sweep of Odessa College. They are 9-1 in their last 10 games. This four-game set should feature some great baseball. Both teams are in the top two in the conference, so it should be a tremendous set. On Friday, the Hawks will play in Midland at noon for the first game and 3 p.m. for the second. Saturday, the games move to the Hawks' home field. Game times will be the same: first game at noon and last game of the series at 3 p.m. If you are looking for some afternoon fun on Saturday, check the Hawks and show them your support.

The Big Spring Steers round out our local teams as they take on the Levelland Lobos at home this Friday night. Big Spring heads into the meeting, scuffling with an 11-14 record and a 2-7 District record. The Steers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to this very Levelland team Tuesday night, when they fell 6-5. Levelland is rolling this year with an 18-5 record and a perfect 9-0 District record. As I mentioned before, they are coming off that Tuesday night victory over the Steers. With only five games left in the season, the Steers have some work to get into the playoffs. They will start by taking care of business Friday against Levelland. The game is here in Big Spring, with the first pitch at 7:33 p.m.. Come out and let's cheer these boys on and see if they can turn this season around.
