- By DUSTIN POPE Herald Sports Writer

The Coahoma Bulldogs will seek to rebound back from a week one defeat to their crosstown rivals, the Forsan Buffaloes, as they lost the Howard County bowl 35-14. This was their first loss in the Howard County Bowl in five years.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs looked marvelous on the offensive side of the ball as they out-gained the Buffaloes’ 429 total yards to 302 total yards. Forsan jumped on the board early as they scored the initial touchdown of the game, giving Forsan a 7-0 lead after the first quarter of play. As the second quarter opened, Forsan kept the pressure on as they put up 14 more points in the second quarter, as the Bulldogs could hardly muster up 6. So at halftime, the score was Forsan 21 Coahoma 6. The Buffaloes added seven more points in the third as the score after their quarters of play was now 28-6. The fourth quarter was the only quarter of play that the Bulldogs outscored their adversary, putting up 8 points to Forsan 7. the Buffaloes proved to be too much for the Bulldogs as they won the game by a final score of 35-14.

The Bulldogs had some pleasant spots in this game. As I explained earlier, they did out gain the Buffaloes on offense. QB Billy Bailey did a great job in the game as he went 6 for 11 piling up 148 yards. However, the rushing attack is where the Bulldogs shinned as they rushed for 281 yards on 35 carries, giving them an 8.0 yards per carrying average. Senior RB Brysen Kerby, who had 25 carries for a fantastic 152 yards, led them, giving him a 6.1 yard per rush average on the game. Kerby also scored one touchdown on the day. Freshman Jadiyn Vineyard showed his potential and playmaking ability. He had 21 yards on merely two carries, one of those carries being a 75yard run. He could also score a TD on the game. Ky Kemper also chipped in with three carries for 49 yards with a long run of 51 yards. This rushing attack will be the staple of the Bulldogs offense for the year as far as the receiving. Once again, Brysen Kirby led the way with three catches for 90 yards. The doeverything senior had a long 65-yard catch in the game. Arian Emerson also had a good game as he had two catches for 52 yards with a long of 41 yards. Rance Redden also had one catch for six yards in the game. Brysen Kerby had a tremendous game as he gained 268 total yards of offense; he was far and away the finest athlete on the field. On the defensive side of the ball, freshman Jaidyn Vineyard was all over the field as he had 12 total tackles on the game, including one sack. It was an exceedingly impressive showing for such a young player. Rance Redon was second on the team in tackles with a special 10.

It was a remarkably well-played
