Terry Dewayne Watkins

Terry Dewayne Watkins, 54, of Big Spring died Sept. 21, 2021. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel.

Terry was born Nov. 11, 1966, in Fort Worth to Terry Watkins and Eva Marie Statham. He married Maria Rivera July 9, 1988.

He attended and graduated from Southwestern College with two degrees, one in Law Enforcement and the other in Medical Assistant. He was president of the Student Council in college. He worked at the State Hospital and the TDCJ Wallace Unit for a total of 22 years.

He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved watching wrestling and golf. He enjoyed cooking and trivia.

Terry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Maria Watkins; two brothers, Gary Watkins and wife, Tessa, and Jerry Watkins and wife, Carol; honorary children, Desiree Yanez and husband, Ed, and Alesha Yanez Fisher and husband, Johnny; three brothers in law, David Rivera and wife, Mary, Daniel Rivera and wife, Mary, and Luis Rivera and Eva Garcia; one sister-in-law; Delia Garten and husband, David. Left to cherish his memories are numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and godchildren & his furry companions T-bone & Chica.

In addition to Terry's parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Dorothy Statham; uncle and aunt Don and BJ Statham; and his in-laws, Jose and Rosa Rivera.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Moore, Bobby Roy, Alvin Rocha, Ruben Gonzales, Ruben Hilario, and Kyle Olivares
