-

Marijann Bailey Stevens (Jann) of Big Spring entered the kingdom of our Lord on Oct. 3, 2021.

Jann was born Oct. 20, 1935, to Walker Green and Francis Wynelle Bailey. She started 1st grade at Forsan High School in September 1942 where her father coached and taught math. She then moved to Big Spring in January when her father was elected to office. She attended College Heights for seven years garnering lifelong friends that started school and graduated with her. She attended HCJC for one year and eventually graduated from Texas Tech in 1966. She then returned to Forsan ISD and taught everything from business, English, journalism, and history to P.E. Through the years she did the yearbook, the newspaper, sponsored the cheerleaders, the pep squad,

and various classes and senior trips. In 1996, she decided to retire after 30 years in teaching. She was loved by her many friends and colleagues as well as two generations of her students – she so enjoyed helping them grow as young adults.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Wynelle Bailey; her oldest son, Don Bradley Stevens; daughter, Valerie Beth Stevens; and oldest grandson, Jason Bailey Stevens.

She is survived by her youngest son, Vance Bailey and Donna Fay Stevens of Montgomery, Texas; youngest grandson, Landon Jared and Randi Stevens of Baird, Texas; and great-grandchildren Stokley Ann Stevens of Abilene, Texas, Landry Bailey Stevens of Baird, Texas, Charles Bailey Stevens of Kemah, Texas, and other cousins and loved ones.

She was our matriarch and our family-thread, and we will miss her kindness and her wisdom.

According to her wishes, there will be a small family and close friends service with her ashes to be buried in the family plot at Trinity Memorial.
