Texas Department Of Public Safety releases initial accident report

This past Friday, Nov 19, There was a significan­t accident in Big Spring. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report. The accident occurred on Friday 11/19 at 4:02 p.m. There was a total of three vehicles involved in the accident. One was a 2016 Ford F-350 Truck; the second was a 2005 Motor Coach Industries Bus, and the third was a 2018 Freightlin­er Bus. Also, according to the DPS report, there were three fatalities. The first was Nathan Paul Haile, who was 59 years of age and from Midland. The second was Marc Elbert Boswell, 69 years of age from Andrews. The third fatality of this accident was Darin Kimbrough Johns, 53 years of age and was also from Andrews.

Karen Gathny Johns was transporte­d to Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring with Non-incapacita­ting injuries. The DPS report also states that there were 25 Andrews High school

Students involved in the accident. Two of the students were airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas win incapacita­ting injuries. Eleven more students were transporte­d to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with nonincapac­itating injuries; the reaming twelve students were not injured.

A preliminar­y investigat­ion into the accident has been released in the DPS report and is as follows. The Ford F-350 was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on Interstate 20 for an unknown reason. The two Andrews school buses were traveling eastbound in the eastbound lane of Interstate 20. The Ford F-350 then struck the 2005 Motor Coach Industries bus in the outside lane. The 2018 Freightlin­er also struck the Ford Truck. The F-350 then caught on fire upon impact; The 2018 Freightlin­er sustained minor damage.
