Justified By Faith
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2
Are you guilty? Are you a sinner? Do you ever do things you know you shouldn’t? Have you tried to be a good person, only to arrive at the wrong destination? Do you struggle to be kind, understanding and compassionate with other people? Does your past keep you up at night? Does it scare the spit out of you to think about the possibility of someone finding out those deep, dark secrets which you have held tucked away for a long time in the closet of your life? Do you ever find yourself battered by the storms of anxiety and depression? Do you ever feel forsaken and abandoned, on the verge of losing your mind because you don’t “fit in”?
Well, there is this inescapable truth we find in the Word of God, and it goes like this – being justified by faith, we have peace with God. Pause for one moment, and think about this with me – we have peace with God. We are not afraid of Him. There is no need to prove that He doesn’t exist, because we are not mad at Him. Peace with God, which means that we have no ill will against Him because He holds nothing against us, not even our sin. No more war or enmity between God and us – just peace with Him. We have peace with God, because in His grace, we have found the strength to overcome all the lies that religion has taught us about Him. And all of this is made possible by our Lord Jesus Christ. By Jesus, we have access into this grace (God is not mad at us), and we are justified by faith alone. Justified – just as if we had never sinned. Justified – just as if we had always done everything right. And the best part is that it is by faith, which means that it is completely free. And of course, free means – nothing in return.
