District 6 Large/Bulk Item Pickup June 15

The City of Big Spring' Public Works Department will conduct it's regular Large/Bulk Item Pickup for District 6 on June 15.

Those wishing to have large or bulky items collected by city workers should call Public Works at 432-264-2501 no later than 5 p.m. Monday, June 13.

The Large/Bulk Item Pickup Program is designed to help residents dispose of large items from homes such as couches, mattresses, appliances, and any other large, bulky items without the expense and hassle of hauling it off.

Items eligible for pickup include doors, carpet, furniture, appliances, cardboard boxes, scrap metal, mattresses, and tree brush or limbs.

Items specifical­ly not eligible for pickup through the Large/ Bulk Item program include regular household trash, garbage, or any items in plastic bags; hazardous materials such as chemicals or petroleum products; automotive parts, batteries or tires; constructi­on, remodeling or demolition debris such as shingles, wallboard or lumber; tires; dirt, rocks, concrete or ceramic tile; television­s or electronic­s.

There are a few rules to be aware of:

• City staff will only pick up items that are already placed on the curb when workers arrive at your location.

• City staff will no be permitted to bring items to the curb from inside your home or from any other area of the residence (backyard, garage, etc.).

• The Large/Bulk item pickup program is for residentia­l customers only.

• Customers are responsibl­e for cleaning up any debris or trash left after your items are picked up.

After you call to schedule your pickup, place your items on your curb at 7 a.m. on the day of the scheduled collection. Items will not be collected if they are in an alley, in front of a vacant lot, or in front of a business.
