Accidents claim two in Martin County

Two fatal traffic accidents occurred in Martin County last week, one on Wednesday and the other on Saturday. Each claimed the life of one man. Conditions during both accidents were clear and dry.

On Wednesday, Andrew Wade Hendriex, 23, of Midland was driving his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle north on FM 1208 at about 11:47 p.m. when he arrived at a curve in the roadway and lost control, according to a press release issued Monday by the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a result of the loss of control, Hendriex struck a pole. He was transporte­d to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Timothy Gutierrez.

No other drivers were involved in the wreck. and Hendriex was wearing a helmet.

The accident was investigat­ed by Trooper Kyle Vickers of the Crane office of the Texas Highway Patrol.

The other accident occurred at 2:11 p.m. Saturday near the intersecti­on of State Highway 329 and FM 829. According to the DPS report, William Scott, 75, of Midland was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado east on SH 176, while Gabriel Lopez, 41, of

Odessa was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima south on FM 829. The report goes on to say that Lopez disregarde­d a stop sign at the intersecti­on with SH 176, entering the intersecti­on, where he was struck by Scott's Silverado.

Lopez was transporte­d to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Gutierrez. Scott was also taken to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

According to the DPS report, both drivers were wearing safety belts The accident was investigat­ed by Trooper Devonte Rolle of Big Spring's office of the Texas Highway Patrol.
