Jon Mark Hardgrave, age 70 of Knott, passed away surrounded by his loving family Monday, Jan. 23, 2023. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at Nalley-pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at Nalley-pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Mark was born in Iraan, on Sept. 11, 1952, to John Daniel Hardgrave and Billie Louise (Hale) Hardgrave. He married Debra Jean Parker Feb. 16, 1991, in Knott, and their families became one. He graduated from Crane High School and attended Lubbock Christian University in 1970 where obtained a Bachelor’s in Animal Science. He received a full scholarshi­p to Rice University to fly planes but he had other adventures he wanted to pursue. He spent many years working for Marathon. He also worked for Tretolite in Crane from 1991 to 1993.

Over the years, he and Debra had multiple business ventures from home health care to boutiques. Mark loved farming, hunting, and driving around on the ranch. He enjoyed fishing, especially with Debbie, but found the time to nap while she fished. He also enjoyed shooting guns with his grandchild­ren.

Mark cared very deeply for Debbie and made it a point to never stop dating her. He had a passion for Christ. He led singing and taught Bible Class and was also an elder at Knott Church of Christ. He was baptized in Pecos River Encampment. He was a hard worker and had obtained his certificat­ion in Welding and thus became an inspector and instructor to others. He was the kind of man that would help others in their time of need without hesitation. Some of the best days of his life was having his family under one roof. His Sunday morning ritual was making bacon gravy and biscuits for his family. He was known for his radiant smile and his heart of gold.

He is survived by: his wife, Debbie; daughter, Jordana Lea Hirt and husband, Cody; son, Lucas Hardgrave and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kimberly Ware and husband, Kyle; daughter, Laci Higgins and husband, Wes; son, Heath Webb and wife, Brandi; his brother, Chuck Hardgrave and wife Melissa; his grandchild­ren: Hannah, Reid, Chandler, Rocco, Dyllan, Kailey, Tyler, Hayden, Aleigha, Paizley, Lyleigh, Tyce and Brookslie; nephew, Randall Adamson; and niece, Elise Taunton.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and his sisters Deborah Hardgrave Collins and Charlene Hardgrave and a grandson, Corbett Jon Hardgrave as well as his in-laws Richard Parker and Miriam Jean Parker.

Pallbearer­s will be: Steve Parker, Stan Blagrave, Clay Parker, Jerad Staggs, Dyllan Tindol, Tyce Webb, Reid Hirt and Rocco Cornish-hardgrave.
