Hawks bounce back with win over New Mexico Military Institute
Coming off of a tough loss to No. 2 Odessa College this past Sunday, the Hawks got back on the winning track by beating New Mexico Military Institute 71-61.
Howard's Lorenzo “Trey” Fort had a huge night scoring 35 points and shooting 13-22 on the night. Fort also accounted for seven rebounds in the win. Howard's Deng Mayar contributed nine points while shooting 4-11 on the night and Dontae Horne had eight points shooting 3-12.
The Broncos jumped out to the lead after the first half with a score of 37-29. Howard flipped the offensive momentum to their side in the second as the Hawks out-scored the Broncos 42-24 to come away with a 10-point win.
The Hawks out rebounded the Broncos finishing the night with 47 compared to New Mexico's 32. The Hawks also forced the Broncos to commit 17 turnovers in the game that aided in the win.
Howard College will be back in action on Monday as they get ready to host Frank Phillips College at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
