Bulldogett­es down Permian 16-4 in five innings

The Bulldogett­es had another big day at the plate as Coahoma racked up 13 hits and two home runs to run away with a 16-4 win over Odessa Permian. Coahoma freshmen Mia Clemmer was trouble for the Lady Panthers as she drove in six runs on three hits including a grand slam homer in the second inning.

Coahoma jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first inning. Sophomore Hannah Wells hit a solo home run to get the Bulldogett­es on the board. Senior Shae Lang laid a sacrifice bunt to to bring in Abigail Bose and junior Karleigh Burt hit a double to bring in Avery Rodriguez.

The Bulldogett­es added four more runs in the bottom of the second thanks Clemmer's grand slam to give Coahoma a 7-1 lead headed into the third inning. Permian added three more runs in the top of the third. Coahoma responded back with four additional runs of its own in the bottom of the third.

Coahoma shut out Permian in the top of the fourth while the Bulldogett­es added an additional five runs to seal the win. Coahoma pitcher Makayla Calvio was credited with the win as she pitched for 2.1 innings giving up only five hits, four runs, and was credited with three strikeouts.

Wells came in as relief and pitched for 2.2 innings striking out five of the last eight at bats. Coahoma's Rodriguez had two doubles in the game while Burt and Kaedyn lee each had one. Wells and Clemmer each had a home run in the win.

Permian's Anaya Paredes was credited with the loss for Permian as she pitched for 1.1 innings giving up five hits, and seven runs. The Bulldogett­es (9-2) will travel to Franklin this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Franklin Tournament.
