The Steers baseball team made the trip to Brownfield on Tuesday and walked with a 18-3 blowout win over the Cubs. The Steers scored 10 runs in the third inning thanks to several Steers who drove in runs during the frame.

Big Spring wasted no time in getting their bats going as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first inning. The Steers scored only one run in the second before going on their big offensive run in the third. That would prove to be enough as the Steers mercy ruled the cubs in four innings.

Big Spring utilized four pitchers in the contest but it was senior pitcher Eli Cobos who was credited the win for the Steers. Cobos pitched one inning, allowing no hits, one run and no walks. Steers pitchers Lucas Chavez, Landon Wright, and Cam Logdson all pitched one inning each as they put in work in relief out of the bullpen.

Brownfield's Lotan took the loss for the Cubs as he pitched for two innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out two. The Big Spring Steers tallied a whopping 15 hits with several Steer players contributing multiple hits. RJ Gomez led Big Spring with three hits in three at bats.

The Steers will play in the Levelland Linedrive Classic Tournament beginning today through Saturday. The Steers are set to play Borger at 10 a.m. and will play Dumas at 3 p.m.
