Junior Dorcas Jones and freshman Bergan Pinkley also a strong showing in the both the 800 and 400 meter events. Pinkley finished second overall in the 800 meter with a time 2:28.91. Jones finished behind Pinkley in sixth place with a time of 2:37.76 for a new personal best.
Pinkley and Jones would swap in the 400 meter event with Jones finishing fourth overall with a time of 1:03.17 and Pinkley finishing in fifth with a time of 1:03.52.
On the varsity boys side, The Steers were led by seniors Adrian Solis and Isaac Gonzales. Gonzales would finish second overall in the 3200 and 1600 meter events with times of 10:04 (3200 Meter Event) and 4:42.69 (1600 Meter Event). Gonzales would finish third overall in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.09 for a personal best this season.
Solis finished second overall in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.06 for a personal best this season. Solis finished third overall in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:49.26.
Big Spring's Ismael Castillo finished fifth overall in the pole vault event clearing 10' 06''. Junior Zeyire Franklin set a couple of new personal bests Friday in both the high jump and the 200 meters. Franklin jumped 5' 10'' in the high jump for a ninth place finish and ran 23.37 in the 200 meters for a new personal best this season and sixth place finish.
The Big Spring boys JV team also had several competitors set new personal bests at the meet. Big Spring's Jordan Mitchell won the JV boy's 800 meter event with a time of 2:04.08 for a personal best this season. Big Spring's Evan Medrano also had a big day as he claimed the individual wins in both the JV boys 3200 and 1600 meter events. Medrano ran a personal best of 11:19 in the 3200 meters and 5:17.02 in the 1600 meters.
Big Spring senior Enrique Calderon finished third overall in the JV boys 400 meters running a personal best of 55.15.
Big Spring is off this week for spring break. Both the boy's and girl's teams will be back in action on Mar. 24 when they travel to Brownwood to compete in the Bluebonnet Relays.
