Brian Matthew Mathiews passed away Feb. 5, 2023, at the age of 56.

He was born on May 19,1966, to Anthony Herring and Peggy Hardcastle in Midland. Brian was adopted around age 8 by Francis (Frank) Merritt Mathiews, in Harker Heights. He married Stephanie Hurd in 1993. During the marriage of 14 years they had two children Adam Mathiews and Griffin Mathiews. Brian married Dawn Mcclelland July 7, 2007, Brian graduated from Killeen High School in 1984 and went on to attend college at University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Psychology/business degree. He started working for Aramark soon after college. For 18 years Brian moved his family to numerous cities and states which includes Texas, Colorado, California, Florida and Puerto Rico. In 2008 Brian began working for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a Purchasing Manager for the next 8 years. In 2015 Brian worked for Outdoor America Images (OAI) as Chief Operating Officer. In 2020 Brian started Mathiews Consulting as an Independen­t signage consultant.

Brian enjoyed various sport activities and was an avid jogger. He liked to entertain family and friends by cooking large meals. Brian was a devoted Christian.

Brian is survived by: his wife Dawn Mathiews; sons, Adam J. Mathiews, Griffin M. Mathiews, stepson Wallace G. Mcclelland; mother, Peggy A. Mathiews; brother, Christophe­r and wife, Kathryn; nephews, Frank Mathiews, Jacob Mathiews and Jeffrey Mathiews; grandchild­ren Mikaah Mcclelland and Milaah Mcclelland along with a loving extended family.

Brian is preceded in death by: Anthony Herring; dad, Francis (Frank) Mathiews; stepson, Joshua Mcclelland; grandpa and grandma Herring and Pop and Granny Hardcastle.

Interment of ashes will be March 21, 2023, at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville. The celebratio­n of life will be at a later date.
