United Way of Big Spring and Howard County board member, Kelsey Jones was named the 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

Volunteers are the backbone of any non-profit organization.

Recently, the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County held the annual banquet and announced the Volunteer of the Year. Board Member Kelsey Jones was named 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

“Kelsey is the first to arrive and the last to leave at every event and meeting,” Christian Fair, Executive Director of the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County, said. “She has fresh ideas and the follow through to see them to fruition.”

Jones has been part of the United Way board since 2019. In her time on the board, she has spearheaded several events including the Clay Shoot - held at Moss Creek Ranch; Rock-n-Roll Kick Off Concert, Cinco de Mayo and Swingin into Spring.

“She (Kelsey) is not afraid to ask for sponsors and can truly get blood from a turnip. Her outstanding efforts have brought in new sponsors that would have otherwise been out of reach for United Way,” Fair said.

New ideas and dedication are important when it comes to bringing in community support. Connections are important to keeping those support lines open, and Jones does a good job of that.

“She is hardworking and her work exemplifies her excellence,” she said.

“She has made our United Way a cut above the rest, all while being a mommy and working full time.”

Fair added, “She truly is an example of how to live united.”
