DRAGONFLY DANGERS

Hosting frogs is easy, but in Steve Byland’s experience, dragonflies are an unexpected challenge. “The American toads disappeared in a couple days and I noticed big dragonfly larvae in the pond. They were eating the tadpoles.” But he has a plan. “Next year, if the dragonflies return, I’ll scoop the toads out of the pond until they get larger and can defend themselves.”
