IN PREPARATION FOR the city’s future, The City of San Luis is finalizing the draft for the 2040 General Plan. A General Plan is the city’s roadmap for the future and is the primary tool that will be used to guide and manage future growth for the community.

This is a visionary document that takes a comprehensive view on growth and development for the next 20 years. It helps guide the City of San Luis in various aspects including: its economy, by providing a foundation for growth and sustaining a strong economy and, community revitalization, while encompassing arts and culture in our community.

While economic development is not an element required by state statute we understand that a strong and healthy economy is the backbone of any thriving community and it fosters successful businesses, industries, residents, and visitors.

Sales tax in San Luis constitutes 50% of the city’s revenue. We strive for proactive economic development initiatives including the San Luis Ports of Entry, growing and expanding businesses and industries and Marketing Foreign Trade Zones.

The 2040 General Plan will be on the ballot for the 2020 General Election for all San Luis residents to ratify. We encourage all businesses, residents, and community members to view the 2040 General Plan draft at Sanluis2040.com.
