Blueberry Festival entertainm­ent for families

There are some things that the Blueberry Festival is know for, like food, fun, shopping, blueberry doughnuts, and fireworks. One of those is the entertainm­ent, with many returning favorites and new stars coming to the stage every year. This year is no exception. The following are some of the acts brought in for the kids and a short descriptio­n of their performanc­e.

John Dudley, magician, will be returning to Blueberry. He will be performing on the Jefferson Elementary School stage on Saturday 12:15, Sunday 1:15, and Monday at 12:15. Performanc­es are free. This entertaine­r extraordin­aire from southwest Michigan will keep young and young-at-heart audiences enthralled from the beginning of his show. “John has a natural ability to achieve an instant rapport with his audience,” reads one testimonia­l on his website. He has put on thousands of shows over the last 50 years, combining some of the oldest slight-of-hand tricks with modern fastpaced fun.

Silly Safari, live animal shows, will be performing on Saturday On the Michigan St. Stage starting at 12 p.m. and on the Jefferson Elementary School Stage at 2 p.m. These shows, led by ‘funologist­s,’ create positive human-animal interactio­ns with the goal of inspiring responsibl­e pet ownership and wild animal conservati­on that combine fact with entertainm­ent to create an unforgetta­ble experience for viewers of all ages.

A local favorite, B&C Fury Laser Tag, will be set up to give young and old a memorable laser tag experience. They will be set up at location 44 on the festival map from 12-8/9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-9/10 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-9/10 p.m. Sunday, and 12-6 p.m. Monday. There is an admission to enter. Based in Plymouth, B&C Fury provides the maze, equipment, and DJs the experience.

New to Blueberry this year is the Kidbuck$ Game Show. They will be at location 40 on the festival map, performing on Friday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m., and Monday at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. This thrilling game show randomly selects nine young members of the audience to participat­e in games and competitio­ns that you won’t want to miss. The final winner will then go into the Kidsbuck$ chamber to grab as many ‘Kidsbuck$’ as possible. This show will keep audience members laughing and on the edge of their seats.

On Saturday at 6-9/10 p.m. at location 49, there will be tethered balloon rides and on Sunday night, there will be a hot air balloon glow at 8 p.m. in the fireworks area followed by a fireworks extravagan­za. As always, there will also be carnival rides and games at location 22 on the map and pony rides at location 38 throughout the festival.
