Blueberry Splash registration open
PLYMOUTH — Get ready swimmers, the Blueberry Splash will make another lap around Myers Lake during the 2022 Marshall County Blueberry Festival.
The swim takes place on Sunday, Sept. 4. Registration is that day, 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. The swim begins at 10 a.m. and will last for an hour.
Those who registered by Aug. 15 were guaranteed a T-shirt. Day-of-event registration is $40, and does not guarantee a shirt.
This year parking, start and finish line are all at the same location: 12086 Peach Rd. (The Old Trading Post). Participants will swim out 1/2 mile around a bouy then back to the start/finish line.
Minimal parking is available along Peach Road, carpool if possible.
The race is open to anyone above the age of 11 and participants are welcome to wear flotation devices. There will be no age groups. The participants will have an hour to finish the race, which will have a land start and finish for everyone involved.
Racers will participate in a safety meeting 15 minutes prior to the event.
The Blueberry Splash is open to the public and people are encouraged to get out there and try something new. Participants do not need prior triathlon experience or to be an expert swimmer. However, the course will require good physical condition.
On the day of the event, swimmers age 11 years old and older are eligible for this event. This swim is not for the uninitiated. Train for this event. Bring your guts for the glory. A full on one mile open water swim. If you are not able to comfortably swim one mile in a pool in under 45 minutes, please do not attempt this event.
This is a charity and in order to keep costs and entry fees down, they do not mail unclaimed prizes or prize money. It is the responsibility of the swimmers to see that your winnings are picked up during the award ceremony.
