GRABBER A/TX

-

WARRANTY: 50,000 miles

Designed to balance the need for off-road traction with on-road performance, the tire can be studded for snow and ice.

The Grabber’s chip- and cut-resistant lugs come from special compounds and molding designed to create durable tread blocks. The acoustic tread pattern provides a quiet ride, and General’s Stabilitread Technology gives a larger footprint designed to increase tread life.

EXPERIENCE: The tire was noticeably softer in ride than the other AT tires. Towing stability was good but not as strong as the Nitto or the Toyo. However, the Nitto was a harder-riding tire, while the Toyo was somewhat softer. Hauling out on a sandy ramp with the rear axle locked gave a little slippage, but the deep treads dug through the goo and pulled out. There was no slippage at all on a concrete ramp with or without the rear axle locked, meaning one-wheel drive was sufficient to haul-out. Additionally, we experienced no sideways slippage on wet cloverleaf ramps like we experienced with the Toyo and Nitto offerings. The tread made a squishy sound and felt squishy on aggressive stops. We didn’t document a longer stopping distance but hadn’t noticed the handling trait on the other tires.
