The CT Open Country tire is rated tops for snow and tread life, and friends who’ve driven them have reported getting as many as 100,000 miles from them. Secondary attributes are for the quiet ride and off-road traction. We’d concur. The tire is pinned for studs for winter driving. Its open-shoulder design and dual-angle shoulder blocks are designed to improve traction in mud, slush or snow.

EXPERIENCE: When we put these Toyos on the truck, the ride was radically different. If we were blindfolded passengers, we would swear this was a different truck. The ride was steady and smooth, and the hum of the aggressive tires was mild and even soothing. But when the Ranger was hooked up to the truck, the tires showed their stuff. This eliminated the side-toside instability we experienced with the factory passenger tires, and the heavier load-bearing tires also stopped much of the bucking from the trailer load. At the ramp, the truck didn’t hesitate to haul the boat up the steep ramp. The LT-rated tires were stiffer in their ride, but in a sporty and commanding way that we enjoyed. The high decibel readings were surprising since the cabin noise seemed so low. SIZE: 275/55R20 DIAMETER: 31.9 in. TREAD DEPTH: 11.2/32 in. TIRE WEIGHT: 49 lb.
