Craft your duct tape tuxedo, science museum Oklahoma’s Adult Prom is January 20, 2023

-

Rock your best jeans, tiara or duct tape tuxedo - it’s time for the night of all nights: “SMO21: Prom”.

This won’t be the same prom you remember from high school. Science Museum Oklahoma will turn up the volume on Friday, Jan. 20, from 7-10 p.m.

The adults-only night at the museum will take guests back to their high school days but this time class is in session with a heavy dose of music and cocktails.

Guests will explore biology with dissections, study the chemistry behind spiked punch, communicate through dance and engineer some attire worthy of the Paris runway.

Like all proms, fashion takes center stage at SMO21: Prom with duct tape being the medium of choice. Those wearing the best duct tape outfits of the evening will be crowned Prom Royalty. Guests can either come dressed in their duct tape creation or craft their fashion in the museum’s Tinkering Garage.

For guests who prefer not to wear duct tape, attire for this special night ranges from t-shirt casual to prom-tastic. Those wearing their best 80s fashion will receive an especially warm welcome.

Those purchasing VIP tickets will have exclusive access to the Pep Assembly, which will reward those at the top of the class with a free signature cocktail, discounted refills, early access to Prom and their own private experience.

During SMO21 events, the museum is in full swing giving guests the opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibits, shows and galleries. All guests will enjoy themed activities, great music and a cash bar with beer, wine and signature cocktails. Pavlov’s Café will be open for guests who work up an appetite.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. VIP tickets are $35 when purchased in advance and $40 at the door.

This event is expected to sell out so people are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

Ticket sales end at 7:30 p.m. No outside food or drink are permitted for adult events. There will be no re-entry for this event.

SMO21, the museum’s adults-only, after-hours program for ages 21 and up, is a chance for adults to explore SMO without children.
