A 48-year-old man who was among the six fugitives added to the state police’s list of Most Wanted Sex Offenders last week was nabbed in New Jersey yesterday — making him the fourth to be tracked down in less than a week, officials say.

Members of the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task force spotted Miguel Villegas walking along Central Avenue in Newark around 12 p.m. yesterday and placed him under arrest, state police say.

Villegas — who was wanted on two counts of failure to register as a sex offender — was booked at the Newark police station and is being held in a county lockup until his arraignment.

He is slated to eventually be returned to the Bay State to be arraigned and be processed as a sex offender.

Villegas was convicted in 2003 of two counts of rape of a child and single counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, and open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior.

The victim in that case was 6 years old.

Three other new additions to the most-wanted list were taken into custody in recent days.

Reggie C. Ellenwood, 58, was arrested last Friday in Boston; Scott A. Halle, 45, was arrested Sunday in Chelsea; and Pedro Munoz, 57, was arrested Monday in Philadelphia.
