Misc: Sixers top pick injured
No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons broke a bone in his right foot during the Philadelphia 76ers’ final training camp scrimmage. Simmons fractured the fifth metatarsal bone. It was unclear how long the former LSU star will be sidelined.
Simmons’ injury is the latest blow to a franchise that has been beset in recent years by injuries to top draft picks. . . .
Jake Browning threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns, Myles Gaskin added 100 yards and two scores, and No. 10 Washington was dominant on both sides, overwhelming No. 7 Stanford, 44-6, last night in Seattle.
After months of hype, Washington (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) showed it was ready for a return to the national stage. And the Huskies did it emphatically, handing Stanford (3-1, 2-1) its worst loss since a 41-3 setback against Arizona State in 2007.
