Time just not Wright
If knuckleballer Steven
Wright pitches again this year, it won’t be in the ALDS.
Farrell ruled out Wright from pitching in the first round of the playoffs. Dealing with shoulder bursitis since he got hurt running the bases in early August, Wright threw a bullpen session at about 70 percent effort yesterday and needs at least two more bullpens before the Sox will test him against hitters. . . . Drew Pomeranz, who is dealing with forearm soreness and is done starting this year, could be a possibility out of the bullpen. Pomeranz could compete with lefties Robby Scott and Fernando Abad to be the second lefty with Robbie Ross Jr. in the ’ pen during the playoffs. . . .
As voted on by the players, Ortiz, Betts and Altuve were the three finalists for AL Player of the Year. Porcello, Corey Kluber and
Zach Britton were named finalists for Pitcher of the Year.
