Hill’s Daffy idea: Stalking Donald with duck

- By CHRIS CASSIDY — chris.cassidy@bostonherald.com

In a video released yesterday, a conservative group claims Hillary Clinton personally approved a plan to use a series of Donald Duck mascots to troll Donald Trump at his rallies for refusing to divulge his tax returns.

“In the end, it was the candidate, Hillary Clinton, the future president of the United States, who wanted ducks on the ground, so by God we would get ducks on the ground,” Democratic operative Robert Creamer of Democracy Partners is shown saying in the video. “Don’t repeat that to anybody.”

The group that released the video, Project Veritas Action, claimed such a coordination between both the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee with the group Americans United for Change, a nonprofit organization, constitutes “illegal coordinated campaign expenditures.”

Project Veritas Action released a video last week that showed Democratic operatives planning to incite violence at Trump rallies. In the wake of that video, Creamer announced he would be “stepping back” from working with the Clinton campaign, and the field director for Americans United for Change was fired.

In the latest video, James O’Keefe, founder of Veritas, contends that Democratic operatives were going to use a different mascot at Trump events, rather than Donald Duck.

“Originally, we were going to do a project,” Creamer said. “We were going to do Uncle Sam. ‘I want you to release your tax returns.’ I agree it’s not as good.”

But according to O’Keefe, it was Clinton who personally requested the Donald Duck mascots at Trump rallies, creating a unique set of challenges for organizers.

“The real problem turns out that it’s not easy to find Donald Duck costumes for adults as you might imagine,” Creamer said. “Fiveyear-olds, plenty of them, but the other ones are mascot-size.”

O’Keefe, whose group used undercover volunteers and hidden cameras, claims the scheme ran afoul of election rules.

“The connection between Creamer, President Obama and Hillary Clinton is undeniable as are the campaign law violations,” O’Keefe said. “If it looks like a duck, if it talks like a duck, and if it walks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck. They broke the law.”

He added that more videos may be on the way.

“Stay tuned,” he said, “because there’s more to come.”
