Rosemary C. Edwards of Hingham, an educator

Rosemary C. (Clancy) Edwards of Hingham, an educator, died Nov. 24.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and education from Albertus Magnus College and a master’s degree from Lesley College.

Mrs. Edwards was a seventhgra­de English teacher for Newton public schools and later taught special education for Hingham public schools.

She was a member of the Maryknoll community and a communican­t of St. Paul’s Church in Hingham and St. Mary of Magdala Church in Harwich. She volunteere­d at Wellspring and Harbor House.

Mrs. Edwards and her husband enjoyed walking the beach, studying scripture, volunteeri­ng, going to the movies and traveling the world.

She especially enjoyed attending events involving her grandchild­ren. She also enjoyed writing and publishing poetry.

Wife of the late Donald J. for 53 years, Mrs. Edwards is survived by two sons, Donald J. Jr. of Plymouth and Michael of Rhode Island; a daughter, Susan Gubbins of Dennis; two brothers, Frank Clancy of Georgia and Bob Clancy of Arizona; a sister, Kate Conte of South Carolina; seven grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Paul’s Church, Hingham.

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cem- etery, Hingham.
