Rally lifts Flyers to 7th in row

Michael Raffl scored with 1:29 remaining to cap a rally from two goals down in the Flyers’ 6-5 victory over the Edmonton Oilers last night in Philadelph­ia. It was the Flyers’ seventh straight win. Claude Giroux had two goals and one assist, and Mark Streit, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Jakub Voracek also scored for the Flyers. Steve Mason stopped 28 shots to win his sixth straight and improve to 11-8-3.

Leon Draisaitl had a goal and two assists, Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist, and Andrej Sekera, Benoit Pouliot and Oscar Klefbom also scored for the Oilers.

The Flyers trailed 5-3 before scoring three times in a 12-minute stretch.

Penguins 5, Panthers 1 — In Sunrise, Fla., Sidney Crosby got his 18th goal and added an assist to lead Pittsburgh over Florida.

Conor Sheary, Tom Kuhnhackl, Matt Cullen and Carl Hagelin also scored for Pittsburgh. Jaromir Jagr scored his 755th career goal for Florida.

Canadiens 5, Devils 2 — Carey Price lost his temper after being bumped twice in his crease and made 19 saves to help host Montreal beat New Jersey.

Torrey Mitchell scored twice and Phillip Danault, Artturi Lehkonen and Max Pacioretty also had goals. Montreal had a season-high 49 shots on Cory Schneider.

Islanders 3, Blues 2 — Anders Lee’s second goal of the game with just over seven minutes remaining lifted host New York over St. Louis.

Canucks 5, Lightning 1 — In Tampa, Fla., Jayson Megna and Jack Skille both had two goals, Ryan Miller made 38 saves before leaving with six minutes left in the third period, and Vancouver beat Tampa Bay.

Rangers 2, Jets 1 — Kevin Hayes scored a power-play goal with 1:09 left in the third period to lift New York over host Winnipeg.

Stars 5, Predators 2 — Jamie Benn scored his 200th career goal and added two assists, and host Dallas beat Nashville.

Flames 2, Coyotes 1 — In Glendale, Ariz., Dougie Hamilton scored 1:09 into overtime, Chad Johnson stopped 27 shots and Calgary beat Arizona.

Hurricanes 3, Kings 1 — Derek Ryan scored twice, Cam Ward made 21 saves and visiting Carolina beat Los Angeles.

Elsewhere in the NHL — Commission­er Gary Bettman says there’s significan­t opposition among team owners to continuing participat­ion in the Winter Olympics, and the league is running out of time on negotiatio­ns to take part in the 2018 Games. Following a meeting of the league’s Board of Governors yesterday in Palm Beach, Fla., Bettman said no decision was made regarding Olympics participat­ion in 2018 in South Korea. NHL players have competed in the past five Winter Olympics and want to continue taking part. . . .

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office denied the Vegas Golden Knights’ trademark applicatio­n after the new NHL franchise unveiled its name and logo. The office cites potential confusion with the team name and logo for the College of Saint Rose in New York, which is also the Golden Knights. The patent office said the similariti­es were too many to overlook.
