Brandeis makes its Case in win

Helped by a 35-4 run over a 12-minute span, Brandeis came back to drop Case Western, 83-66, yesterday in men’s basketball action in Waltham.

Eric D’Aguanno led the Judges (6-7, 2-1) with 19 points off the bench, connecting on 5-of-12 shots from downtown.

Jordan Cooper added 17 points, 14 coming in the second half.

The Spartans (5-9, 0-3) were led by Javier Alvarez’ 20 points.

Siena 63, Fairfield 54 — Brett Bisping scored 16 points and the Saints (7-11, 4-3 MAAC) dropped the Stags (8-7, 3-3) in Bridgeport, Conn.

Bradford’s Tyler Nelson netted 13 points for Fairfield. In top 25 action: Cincinnati 55, East Carolina 46 — In Greenville, N.C., Kyle Washington scored 16 points and the No. 22 Bearcats (15-2, 5-0 AAC) handled the Pirates (9-10, 1-5).

USC 71, Colorado 68 — Chimezie Metu netted 24 points and the No. 25 Trojans (16-3, 3-3 Pac-12) held off the Buffaloes (10-8, 0-5) in Boulder, Colo.

Women’s basketball

Virginia 62, Boston College 55 — Mariella Fasoula registered 20 points but the Eagles (8-10, 1-4 ACC) fell to the Cavaliers (12-5, 1-3) in Charlottes­ville, Va.

James Madison 74, Northeaste­rn 54 — Francesca Sally dropped 16 points but the Dukes (11-5, 4-1 CAA) drubbed the Huskies (6-11, 2-3) in Harrisonbu­rg, Va.

Women’s hockey

Boston University 1, Vermont 1 — Victoria Hanson turned aside 39 shots and the No. 10 Terriers (12-8-4, 7-7-3 Hockey East) tied the Catamounts (10-7-7, 6-3-5) at Walter Brown Arena.
